NAMCO BANDAI SHIPS MORE THAN 2.5 MILLION UNITS OF TEKKEN® 6 WORLDWIDE

Renowned Fighting Series Comes out Swinging to Become an International Hit

SANTA CLARA, Calif., (Oct. 30, 2009) — Leading video games developer and publisher NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., announced today that TEKKEN® 6, the latest installment to its revered top-selling video game franchise, has shipped more than 2.5 million units worldwide since it’s Oct. 27 launch. Now available at retailers throughout North America for the Xbox 360^® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation^®3 computer entertainment system, TEKKEN 6 brings the arcade experience home with unrivaled gameplay, gorgeous visuals, and a robust character roster. The biggest and best King of Iron First Tournament is here and players everywhere are ready to fight.

With an illustrious 14-year legacy, Tekken is among the most popular and well-known gaming brands in the world with the entire franchise selling more than 34 million units to date.  A must-have for fighting game aficionados, TEKKEN 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to deliver the largest line-up in the series’ history.  New to the series, the Scenario Campaign mode will allow players to progress through the story and mow down hordes of enemies while still enjoying fighting game action.  Adding to the already rich experience, a deeper character customization feature will only further enhance the incredible gameplay as players go mano-y-mano. 

With full support via the Xbox Live® online entertainment network and PlayStation®Network, TEKKEN 6 includes a multitude of online features. Players can vie for global domination or just improve their fighting skills by battling opponents worldwide in online versus mode. Create and upload customized ghost characters, which replicate a player’s fight style, so any competitor from around the world can download them for one-on-one battles. Also an online co-op update for the game’s Scenario Campaign will beavailable this winter as free post-launch downloadable content. In this mode, two players can jump into intense campaigns against AI controlled enemies and experience the dramatic large-scale action with friends around the world. 

TEKKEN 6 is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and is now available nationwide for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with an MSRP of $59.99. A premium wireless fight stick bundle is also available for $149.99, while supplies last.
