Street Fighter X Tekken...Was it what you expected?

Post by Dekacho » Mon Mar 12, 2012 10:19 am

Hi, I`m "BahamutTamer" with another acocunt, since NB somehow blocked my other account.

After all the Hype Capcom gave to it, the most wanted crossover in game history is finally here. The big question is...was the time worth it?
I got the game two days after it was released and can say its a good game.

To be honest, I`m more Tekken fan than Street Fighter`s, so I found a bit weird using King or Hwoarang with a diferent button system (although they kept the button/limb idea for the Tekken cast). Despite that, the Tekken roster was very well designed and ported to the SF universe, with lots of their moves pretty loyal to the Tekken versions...and some of them are even cooler in this game (like King`s upper kick, which can connect 4 times). The proyectile seemed to be a little unfair, but it was balanced by giving the Tekken Charas an "anti-proyectile" move to avoid them.

It begins with a tutorial with our beloved Dan (no, wait...I hate him!!!). It`s pretty good and you learn the basic commands pretty quick.

The arcade tells you the story about Pandora, and can be achieved with every character combination, but if you want the cinematics, you must beat arcade with the teams showed in the trailers (King/Marduk, Guile/Abel, Chun-li/Cammy, etc).

There are "trials" that allow you to learn most of the commands of each character (I believe that the game was mainly designed to be played with the fighting stick, because some of the later commands are a pain in the ass with the Joystick).

The Mission Mode consists in 20 Missions, which are quite difficult unless you know how to play.

The Online is pretty good. Sometimes there is a little bit of Lag, but it doesn`t really screw the fight. The best part of it is that you can play with 3 more people. The Scramble mode is a bit confusing, but is a lot of fun to play with other people. If there are less than 4 people, one of them has to team up with the AI. You can also play the arcade mode while waiting for an online player who wants to challenge you, so you don`t have to wait. One of the best things about the online is that there are no trophies/achievments like "win xxx fights in a row", so you can lose some battles in the process and it won`t afect your achievment (take that, Mortal Kombat!!!!).

Well, that`s what I can say about this so much wanted crossover. I must admit that its interesting using the Tekken characters with a different button and system, but Street Fighter x Tekken can be enjoyed more by SF fans than Tekken, for the combo system is somewhat the same. But, as I said before, I`m a Tekken fan, but I found this game pretty good.

Actually I was DISAPPOINTED hugely be SFxT. I'm a Tekken fan and in fact I don''t lie street fighter. I kept hearing that despite it being in Street Fighter format that Tekken players would feel at leas comfortable with this game and I did not. Yes some of the Tekken characters retained some of their combos but I felt like the characters have changed completely and there moves have been replaced with SF characters. The only person I could even use was Kazuya and Nina. In Tekken I use Xiaoyu and Asuka but for me they are impossible to use in this game. When I ATTEMPTED to play online I couldn't even attack. In part, to me it doesn't seem Tekken friendly. I expected more blending of the games than just Tekken characters becoming Street Fighter Characters. I thank god that I didn't waste my over $60 dollars on this and just borrowed it from my friend. I will buy Tekken x Street Fighter though.

At last!!! I though nobody would never answer.

As I said, this game can be most enjoyed for SF fans than Tekken fans, so I understand your dissapointment (and borrowing the game from a friend was a really smart move :) ).
To be honest, I was expecting this game to be like this (didn`t believe them when they said the tekken roster would be comfortable for the fans). Of course, I`ll bet all my money to TTT2 (not so sure about TxSF), but this game is OK for me.
Thank you for answering and sharing your opinion (i was feeling sad about this post being useless).

This is why I am waiting for Tekken Tag 2. SFxT was like a Street Fighter game and I have IV, MvC3 to suffice with that.

I am holding off on this collaboration until Tekken X SF.

Good points above!
