*chokes* who needs better mobility when you can kill from over 250 miles away. The Hornet is slow. And in a dogfight speed is life. Look at records of the F-14 in both USN and Iranian service. Then look as Hornet records of all nations. Yeah who has the most AA kills? And if the F-14 can easily out manuver aggresors flying the A-4, F-5, F-16, and F/A-18s which have lost some stuff to be lighter and more manuverable, well so much for the manueverability of the Hornet. Plus look at pylons. You know how much drag all that puts on the Hornet? Look at the Tomcat. She carriers her heat under the belly. And can still make Mach 2 to on the deck with a full load of AIM-54, AIM-7, AIM-9, cannon, and the droptanks. Plus the F-14 was only to heavy to land on a carrier when she had a full load of AIM-54s. The F/A-18 on the other hand always comes home empty, save for AA missiles and target pods. Ordy not used it dropped in the sea.

Anyways, Tomcat, yeah, a great plane, it's a classic (especially since the movie top gun showed it off), but super hornets arn't that bad either. I'll really be sad when the last Eagle is discomisioned.

Well, the Tomcat's still for me. Dunno about you, (And I see you still haven't changed that name of yours, RP.) but I still prefer the Cat since I can zoom around with it and smack anyone's ass and leave them to ask what that was before they see me fly by. I just wish they do a remake of the cat. They kinda had to phase it out now. But still, THE CAT RULES.![]()
Any objections?
