Final Fantasy VIII..... 2?

I found this browsing around today off a different forum, and they seem to think it's real... I guess I have to agree seeing as it's a Japanese magazine... what do you guys think?



I'll be doing some research... if anyone else has any news... post it!:D

But there are plenty who love it... if not playing it now.. Great find Febronia!! I think SE plans on making another game just like FFX-2, as it would seem.

I think it's totally fake. It's been way too long since FFVIII came out. In the case of X and X-2, X-2 followed up within a year or two of X, and only FFO came out between them. In the case of making Advent Children (and then its follow-up Dirge of Cerberus, not to mention all the other FFVII-related material), FFVII is a money-maker for some reason, but FFVIII doesn't have that quality. Lastly, this screen shot looks absolutely nothing linked to FFVIII's world (I'm not recognizing this character, anything in the background, etc). Besides, Squall lives at the end of FFVIII, so it's not like Rinoa has a quest to go find him like Yuna wanted to find Tidus.

We don't even get to see the text of the magazine. I think someone scanned a picture of some other game (possibly a SE game, possibly not) and then Photoshopped a FFVIII-2 logo. I mean, just look at the picture. Magazine text is cut off to the side, but somehow, magically, this FFVIII-2 logo is centered in the middle of the shot. Which means if we were actually looking at the original magazine, this logo would be off-center and out of place. Not to mention the screenshot extends further down, so then the logo would be in the middle of the screenshot, too.

I think this magazine scan is a fake. That doesn't mean I think the possibility of FFVIII-2 is a fake, but it seems real impractical to make it. Then again, who knows what the SE executives are thinking? But if someone wanted to prove this was a scan of FFVIII-2, they should have scanned the text, not just the image.

[Edit]You know what else? Look at the horrible rendering on that screenshot. That is not SE-quality rendering. That render looks like crap compared to even FF10. And with screenshots of FFXII circulating the Internet, we know SE is pushing to making the in-game graphics look as good as the CGI graphics. But that render is just absolute crap. So I doubt it's even coming out of SE; it's probably some other game.

Also, Febronia, please provide a link of the other forum where you found this, so that I may repost this rant there. Unless you'd like to save me the time and post it there for me.[/Edit]
