4 is what got me hooked. I rented it from Movie Gallery many years ago when I was young. I also rented Gundam Journey to Jaburo that same year. Thats was one of my favorite holiday seasons ever. I'm getting all nostalgic.:o

What's wrong with the Xbox? They chose it because they could start developing games for it about 2 years sooner, and because its online service works better. Not to mention the Xbox Marketplace DLC Download and Install system is much more efficient, and they love putting DLC up.

And, from what I hear, the Xbox 360 is easier to code for, making the game development process cheaper and easier.
So... Excluding Cipher, wanna bet all Ace Combat player characters are the same man?

The online services are virtually the same whether it's server based or peer-2-peer. But you are right in one regard. Sony actually charges a bandwidth fee for putting stuff up on the PSN. The internet is never truly free they have to pay the bills somehow.

I have been an ace combat fan since AC2, I still have them and my old saves on my memory cards updated to my PS3. I kind of took it as a slap in the face. I don't by alot of games but the ones I play I am very loyal too. I have been playing AC for almost 10 yrs and now they disregard that. It would be nice from a customer relations stand point to maybe release a statment saying "Hey we still value you as a customer and a fan we are working on it." Has anyone heard this yet? And does namco even seem to scrub these forums or do they mostly ingnore them? I'm new here so if my questions seem redundant or unfounded please forgive me.

It was a sad day when I had to buy HAWX just to scratch the itch I had for a flight game. :(

It's not a slap in the face when they can't make money on the PS3. At the time they started devwork, the PS3 hadn't even been released. The game came out in 2007 after a few years of work with the 360 in development. The PS3 wasn't released until well after they started work on it, and to make it work on the PS3 would require massive recoding.

Next off, the online system the Xbox uses is more efficient and has redundancy so games don't drop as easily. AS EASILY.

The biggest thing about the Online I can say they liked, though, is the DLC system. The PS3 has Dowloading and installing content as a single step, whereas the 360 splits it into 2 steps, making the system redundant and more efficient, so that the download can move more quickly to a specified sector of the hard drive that writes faster at the cost of total data storage, and moves it to the proper folder afterwards. The PS3 downloads files directly to the destination folder.

Look at the total amount of DLC for AC6. There's more than the game costs.

For them, it wasn't a slap to the face. For them it was business. They can't make money on a console that didn't even start to have good sales until halfway into its life.

Now, I've played the PS2 AC games, but I'm glad I got a 360 instead of a PS3. Not just for AC, either.

They could have easily made it a timed release much like Tales of Vesperia which was a Xbox 360 exclusive for a year for the same reasons.

As far as games dropping, thats only dependent on your host. If anything the way the 360 handles online play is less redundant, cutting out the middle man (server) out of the mix. For the PSN if that server "hiccups" just once everyone is kick out of the game, not just the guys with the bad connection.

As far as why there are so much DLC for 360 games...

That should help paint the picture. By comparison publishers feel the can extend the return and not get "taxed" for it.

Moving back on topic, Ace Combat 6 is a 360 exclusive. Deal with it.

What happens to AC7, I don't know, but I hope it's released to both consoles. 360 so I can play it and PS3 so everyone can stop complaining.

Wow, thats a cynical way of looking at it. Xbox 360 exclusivity of a big budget Japanese game is never something set it stone, and the "Only on Xbox 360" doesn't hold much meaning in those cases. Case and point Enchanted Arms or even the western BioShock release. I suggest you take your own advice and deal with that as a possibility. The nerve.
