Not necessarily. I've seen some demo teams like the Red Arrows where they take out some avionics equipment and use it for storage. But other teams like the Blue Angels and A-10 east basically use stock planes except for the smoke machines.

The Blue Angels use trapped out and worn out F/A-18As and F/A-18Bs and now some F/A-18Cs as well. The Thunderbirds recently (within the past two years) upgraded from the F-16C/D Block 32 to the F-16C/D Block 52. I think they get worn out jets too.

BTW, Cool_man, I was reading about the crash on the CBC website and it seem like a lot of Canadians don't enjoy airshows or military spending. True? False?

EDIT: It was also funny to read comments about the CF-18. I really just wanted to post saying that the CF-18s are barely different from an F/A-18A/B.
