Dragon Ball Raging Blast series ideas

Post by Devil's Advocate » Sat Oct 30, 2010 12:07 pm

Hey folks. We've had quite the number of suggestions threads pop up as of late and they seem to scatter the focus a little bit. So this thread is here to voice you suggestions. Leave your opinion on the series to other threads. Please keep your ideas limited to one post per account. That way everyone can get a chance to be seen.

As been said many times:

- Get rid of the map limitations make it infinite or whatever or just way larger, because it's annoying to hit invisible walls and breaks up combo's and flow of fight.

- Map suggestion, At Nameks destroyed you fight above and in the huge crater made by frieza, we also see it in some screens in raging blast 1, and in the background when playing the map, but we can't actually get there. Make it so that we can fight above this HUGE crater and in(possibly through) it, and add special lightening effects like in the show around the crater. - Other world Tournament especially the space part above it with breakable meteors.

- More Epic melee combo moves, I saw a few cool ones were added to rb2, I say keep going and add some more and perfect it. teleporting combo's and speedy combo's are just wicked. Lot's of different air combo's are nice too.

- More charachter uniqueness, What's the use of 100 or 200 charachters when most of them play the same other then their visual looks? From what I've seen it's improved in RB 2 But I think it still can be perfected. More signatureskills or USEFULL signatureskills some are way better than others.(speaking from RB1).

- Better graphics art meaning better aura's and better charge effect(truely like the show). The charachter models are great in my opinion.

- More interaction with the enviroment like crashes and maybe something new.

- MAKE THE TRANSFORMATIONS HAVE EPIC SCREAMING SOUNDS PLEASE, this is a must and frankly feels like the game is unfinished beta without it, and just can't get why it still isn't in RB 2. Also some kind of Screaming sounds while having beamstruggles might not be a bad idea too, adds in epicness as it should be.

- Better physics with environment, damage stays not dissappears as it is now(rocks and craters for example and)..
And more unique/random environment damage would be awesome too like if u fired a super it would end up different most likely each time. Charging power should create earthquakes(depending and unique to charachter) and raise little and or big rocks, and effect water etcetera.

- Better LONGER EPIC explosions, ultimates affect map? (Longer beam struggeles would be nice too it deserves the epicness).

- Remove, Change, Fix the invisible wall when you are doing a certain vanishing max combo that makes you hit the opponent from the air into the ground except for when there is no ground or weird spacing issues, it makes the move look horrible.

- Charachters: Piccolo with Kami as transformation, Uub, Garlic JR. And Dragonball GT The 3 strongest Dragons, main Z fighters, Bebi, General Rildo. Please don't add dragonball charachters because they are like in a whole other tier and not fair/fun to use against the stronger ones so we don't end up using them online when someone picks a higher tier.

- Super suggestion, Piccolo removes weighted training clothes ingame and gains some kind of increased stats.

- A Rpg style Story mode would be nice with a real huge world map where u can fly around, but if you have to choose between spending time in story mode or gameplay engine I say gameplay engine, since online mode is what i'll be doing most anyway.

- Tag team 2vs2 at the same time would be great(optionable maybe), but i don't want a huge targetting circel messing up the beautiful charachters.

The gameplay elements that should be added back from BT3 to RB3. These would make the game feel a lot more fun and likely to sell more as BT3 had 3 million + sales while raging blast 1 only had 770 000.

-Re-add the smash attack finishers and all finishers in general
-Re-add the blast combos
-Re-combine high-tension and raging soul...
-Increase dash speed
-Option to re-map the controls to the old style
-Re-add the rush ki wave technique
-Re-add the ki-expand defensive maneuver
-Make it so that when both players punch each other at the same time, one player's character is not overshadowed by the other's and that those white hit boxes will appear once again (This one may not seem that special but it would improve the gameplay greatly)
-And finally increase the speed of the gameplay/movement and make the game feel more responsive/less clunky.
-This one's controversial but I much prefer the Anime-style graphics like in the Tenkaichi games and Raging Blast.

Get a band that's likes Dragonball and feature them has heroes like Blind Guardian in Sacred 2.... or even better spilt the original songs into battle and Menu catgories. It's annoying to listen to a song in battle that would be repeated in 1min. (wait that was Tenkaichi 3, can't remember if Raging had a selectable list)

That's pretty much it....
"Iluminati sumus, adhuc divintus, praedition maledictum, infernus rex foedus, hiberous tempus anni, ventorum furia, obscuritas naturae, aeterna tenebra"

I'm not usually one to do this sort of thing, but I've always had the idea of what would make the Tankaichi/Raging Blast series perfect in my head, and it's not "AW PUT IN DIS CARACTERRRzz AND DIS MOVEZZZ" Because although that's extra content, it won't make a bit of difference guys, the balls are inert. Haha sorry I couldn't help myself. But seriously, it won't matter in the end.

What really matters is what makes a good game and what makes Dragon Ball good. Without getting in to some stuffy ludoligy blabberfest I'm going to put it as plain and simple as I can.

-The flow of the fight-
Now I don't know about you guys but I've always felt that although Dragon Ball Z fighting was flashier, the fighting from good old Dragon Ball or the start of DBZ had a lot more complexity to it. This is first because fighting is A) The primary game mechanic, and B) The biggest reason people watch Dragon Ball.
What we have right now, on the verge of getting Raging Blast 2, is more or less the same since Budokai Tenkaichi 1. Now, I've played each itteration of the game to death and I can tell you I KNOW there are differences, but in the big picture they're minor changes. The biggest we've seen is the change from Tenkaichi to Raging Blast, which I initially disliked, but have come to see what the developers thought important to the game and have accepted this.
My point is that this system works and there is nothing wrong with it, but it needs more.
I'm talking about a GROUND COMBAT SYSTEM. I want to see my character running or dashing around, jumping and feeling his/her weight behind what I do. I want to be knocked off towards a rock only to press the jump button just as II hit it to ricochet off, skidding on the ground with dirt, rocks and a satisfying sound effect to match. I want to count my opponents punch only to find he's countered it back, forcing me to side step quickly out of the way, leaving a moment of vulnerability for my opponent that he worked hard to achieve.
It's a bit hard to put down in words but man I can picture it perfectly in my head. I hope one day I can write it down properly or even help make it (I study game development) so we'll see, but you get what I'm saying?

-Story-
This is SO important, both for creating a compelling game but also because that's what Dragon Ball is about, character progression and a long, long drawn out epic tale. But more than that, more than what we've seen a hundred times before, I want it properly integrated in with the gameplay.
Story should be free roam with a current objective that directs the player from battle to battle, the main gameplay aspect of the game, with small minigames to govern everything else, think early budokai games, getting Raditz in line for the Special Beam Cannon etc. I want to have the chance to stop and explore the world of Dragonball though. I want to see the emotion on Goku's face as he realises he might not be able to take on Frieza, the fear and anger on Buu's face as he finds out Gohan is stronger than him, I want them to take the opportunity to mix in the movies and show us some content that only being a game can give us the opportunity to see. I'm not talking about what if's and the like, although I love them, I'm talking about re-telling the story we already know with greater detail. I think that if you could play through the story from a select number of characters perspectives that would be fantastic. Growing with them and seeing everything from their perspective, and the stuff you don't see in the anime/manga.

I should probably get back to studying for my exams now but hopefully I can continue with this later. A few things I want to talk about are character progression, i.e the RPG elements of the game, and the possibilities of a character creation and how that could tie in to a what if version of the story. And we shan't forget multi player.

There's a reason I keep checking these forums and buying the Dragon Ball games, it's because I know it has some of the greatest potential of any game tie in to date. I know we'll get it one day, I just want to help.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think. Update soon

honestly the gameplay is now good, don't whining about it ok? what we need are more anime consideration like better explosions and destruction, a storymode with good cutscenes and many hours of fun, Dragonball and almost all Dragonball GT characters, not another time a halfcast GT roster that sucks, more original alternate costumes from the anime not just recolours, more stages than only 4 new one at least 7 new one's, we need more content and better visual effects thats it

No the actual gameplay is much more important to the game than special effects would ever be. The game still does not feel as fun or fast-paced as Tenkaichi 3.

"The characters feel too similar, with some playing almost like the exact same fighter with a slightly altered appearance. I know they wanted to include a huge roster of characters -- and they do -- but what's the point if so many of them feel basically the same? I'll take ten unique, balanced characters over 50 mediocre ones any day." quote from ign's review. why cant spike read wat people have to say about their game. seriously, would it kill em to listen?
