I think for the time given into making this game it's pretty good but everything has flaws.
The Ideas!I'm all for a challenge but this game is in dire need of a
Difficulty Setting!
I'm getting tired of picking my teeth out of the buildings around me.. With that said I'm seriously stuck in Hero mode. I can't beat the level 4 Raditz training or any of the Missions both "Main Story" and side missions. The World Tourney is also kicking my head in. I understand the need to focus on Hero mode being hard because you are "training" but dang.. I guess I just suck at finding out the faults in the AI and abusing it.. because that doesn't make a game fun, it makes it repetitive.
I didn't have ANY problems with any of the other DBZ games(BT1-3 were the best IMO), Burst Limit was Ok but not horrid, RB 1&2 were great, even the DS games were good. I even enjoyed the old SNES Imports! I played them for years and years after they came out. None of them were truly DIFFICULT. But this needs some revising. I don't think a difficulty setting would be that big of a deal to put into as a patch.
Anyway, back to the ideas:
More than 2 super moves would be great.
Hero Mode character only Moves would give more replay and depth to the mode itself. Each "body type" could have his/her own special move set that other character's don't have. Everyone and their sister can do the kamehameha now.. lol..
Easier gained Spirit besides spamming Chain Attacks.
Fix it so the AI can't use a special attack with 1/8th of a bar of Energy and almost no Spirit.
Battle Mode(p1 vs p2 / p1 vs cpu)/Hero Mode settings that effect gameplay similar to GOW3 Mutators/Halo Skulls. 7 of them, 1 for each dragon ball, 14 if you count the Black Star Dragon Balls(makes the game harder/easier for those who are famished for a challenge or want to completely dominate) Require beating the game, and/or Collecting them in game before being able to use them.
Medical benefits too(carpel tunnel from button mashing much? lol jk)
With that said, I have to say I love the QTEs. Some people don't. They should stay. I do miss being able to zip around behind someone like in RB. The area damage being brought back from the BT series is a much loved addition. Probably my most favorite feature in the game besides Hero Mode.
One side note about obnoxious AI's.. UFC Undisputed 2009 got ripped a new one by gamers because the computer's ability to counter and one hit KO you was way too frequent. I don't want to see the DB Series go that route.. Please keep in mind i'm not comparing the two games in anyway except for the difficulty(I still like db more ^_^)
For those who want a true challenge, they should be able to ramp up the difficulty! For those who want a casual gaming experience and don't want a headache everytime they try to play, they can turn down the difficulty. It feels like the game was meant for people who have a lot of time on their hands. Games shouldn't be limited to those without lives.
There's not much I would actually CHANGE in this game.. Addons are almost infinite.. but I know Namco needs stuff for future games. Hero mode is probably the best thing theyve ever done to breathe life back into the series game-wise. Just a few tweaks would be nice! I don't really care for achievements, I enjoy playing a fun game. Every dbz game I have for the xbox 360 that I have 1000gs for, I still play and replay because they are FUN.
However, for those Achievement Hunters, there are some achievements I feel like they should have added:
Complete Hero Mode with all character types
Use all special Attacks in Hero Mode
Destroy the Scenery on Every Map
That's it for now. Feel free to comment/add/amend what was posted here
