Dark Souls for PC

Post by IcoSotc » Thu Aug 04, 2011 12:10 pm

What's up guys, I'm a huge Demon's Souls fan, it's probably my favourite game of this console generation thus far, however I was quite disappointed to hear that Dark Souls was coming to both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, yet there is no mention at all of a PC release. Is it even remotely possible that we may, at some point, receive a port of the game later down the line? It's going to be a great game, and even an exclusive Steam release would sell like hotcakes, especially given PC gamers general love for dark fantasy RPG's. Anyway, just thought I'd enquire about it as I'd absolutely love to see the game come to PC's as well at some point!

Right on. Demon's Souls was my favorite game on the PS3 but my PS3 broke and I won't get another one. I'm sticking with PC gaming for now. I don't understand why NAMCO Bandai won't do it. It's nothing but money in their pockets. It makes them more sales, PC games are generally easier to publish since it's mostly digital now, they have lots of potential fans, and the online community could be kept alive by Bandai selling servers to people like on other games. There's no reason not to have a PC version. Even if it's a half-assed port. I just want something.

Throw that baby on Steam and watch it sell like hotcakes. The money will roll in.

This game belongs on PC. MODS!!!

Bummpppp

It's worth noting that the engine used for Dark Souls (Sony's PhyreEngine) is intended to work on PCs, and games made with have been ported before. Now, those games probably took a lot of work to port over, but I can't believe that it wouldn't be worth it. The breakout success of this series in America is in no small part due to gossip between hardcore gamers, a force that is even stronger among people who primarily play PC games.

If it comes to the PC I would be surprised, but I would also think it would be the smartest move Bandai Namco has made since picking up Dark Souls in the first place.

YES PLEASE. especially because the framrate issues on console are horrendous so are the textures thye look muddy and are extremmly low res. also the user input is extremly delayd not a good mixture for such a game were timing is impeccable. heres to hoping the pc version will not have any such issues

Why would you want a game with a broken multiplayer component?

Honestly I would prefer Demon's Souls for PC with mods, and actually being able to play with people and invade/be invaded.

The dead zone in the controller is deliberate. It's one of the methods From used in order to make the game harder.

Besides, I don't know what you want with a game with Broken MP. It's not that it's hard to get online interaction it's that it's hard to get ANY online interaction. WHo ever made that decision dropped the ball and should be fired. They might sell more then Demon's Souls but Dark Souls will never have the longevity Demon's Souls still has.

I'm never buying another Namco game again. Fooled me ones as the saying goes.

I love how many people joined just so they could complain to deaf ears.
Although it would be nice to have it on a computer, it really would just lead to more problems as if it doesn't work on the console, chances are that your computer which is more then likely less powerful then the console will process it even slower.

That's actually untrue. As PS3 hardware is 5 years old, and even at release it wasn't cutting edge compared to typical PC hardware. Anyone who's bought a decent ($400) pre-built computer in the last two year would probably be able to play it. That price would go down considerably if you build it yourself.

Which is down 500 dollars from how much it took to build one at release, as well as the article being written over a year ago, so it will be considerably less now.
